"TO MOVE EACH INDIVIDUAL TO DESIRE GOOD, RIGHT, AND
CONSTRUCTIVE THINGS."
    Another aspect of a positive and healthy relationship with God would be positive desires.  This is evidenced where the Bible tells us that "God will give you the desires of your heart."  This verse has caused much confusion and discouragement in the lives of believers.  You will find someone whose particular desire is not God given, yet that scripture is claimed to guarantee delivery.  There are many disillusioned Christians as a result of misunderstanding this scripture.

     Prior to that promise, that scripture reveals the condition, "If you delight yourself in the Lord.....he will give you the desires of your heart."   To delight yourself in the lord is made clear in the words of Jesus, "If you love me you will keep my commandments."

     As we strive (willingly) to act in the words of Jesus, which is the will of God, we are filled with God's desires for our lives, which then become our desires.  In other words, at this point, God has now given you the desires of your heart.

"Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."   Psalm 37:4
